2016 First Pitch Luncheon to feature TTU's Tadlock
LUBBOCK -- Baseball fans anxiously awaiting the start of the college baseball season and the start of Spring Training for Major League Baseball can get a small fix of the sport they love at the National College Baseball Hall of Fame's annual First Pitch Luncheon.
Tickets are now on sale for the Jan. 27 event at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 12:10 p.m.
Tables of eight are available for $500, which include a meet-and-greet session with representatives of the Texas Rangers and priority seating, or $400 for preferred seating. Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.
Proceeds from the event, which is sponsored by The Griffin Companies, Reagor-Dykes Auto Group, Suddenlink, McDougal Companies, Fuddruckers and Lubbock Sports, will benefit the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.
The program will feature Texas Rangers broadcaster Emily Jones, bench coach Steve Buechele and pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez. LCU head baseball coach Nathan Blackwood and Texas Tech head coach Tim Tadlock also will speak about the upcoming seasons for their programs.
"This event is always a great chance to preview the upcoming seasons for our local college teams as well as get a sneak peek of the Rangers season," said Mike Gustafson, president and CEO of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame. "From youth levels to the pros, and especially our college teams, interest in baseball just continues to grow, and we're excited to once again offer a chance to get everyone ready for the season."
